Emergency travel
- E-5 and below, active duty only
- Death of an immediate family member: mother, father, sibling, or grandparents
- Terminal illness or a life-threatening situation
- Must submit a current LES
Junior enlisted pay does not always stretch to a flight home. When an E-5 or below needs to be with family, we book the travel in full. There is nothing to repay.
A service member’s testimony
Flying home from South Korea was not in the budget. Boots For Troops booked the ticket, and PFC Counsil made it home after being away for a long time.
The Travel Assistance Program helps E-5 and below get home for the holidays, or get home in an emergency. Boots For Troops books the flights in full. We do not ask for repayment. We believe family matters, and that a junior enlisted service member should be able to be there when it counts.
These are the people this program exists for: service members a long way from home, opening a box from Tomball because someone remembered them. When the call comes to actually go home, the shop’s job is to take the cost of the ticket off their shoulders.
We do not reimburse tickets already purchased. If the trip qualifies, we book the flight, or we provide gas gift cards if the service member is driving.
Active duty only. E-5 and below. Two paths: an emergency that cannot wait, or holiday and special travel when you have not been home in two years.
We book qualifying flights ourselves. A gift today is what fills the next ticket home.
