Privacy Policy

Boots For Troops is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Tomball, Texas (EIN 38-3973901). This policy explains what our website at https://boots4troops.org collects, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it, which other companies are involved, and how to ask a privacy question.

What this website collects

You can browse our website without creating an account. The only login on this site is for our staff. We only collect personal information when you choose to fill out and send one of our forms. We keep your answers so our staff can reply and help with what you asked for, and we send you a short confirmation email. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank accounts, or card numbers on any of these forms.

  • Contact form: First name, last name, email, phone (optional), and your message.
  • Newsletter signup: First name, last name, and email. This is only a request to hear from us, and we do not use a separate mailing-list company.
  • Volunteer form: First name, last name, email, phone (optional), how you want to help (pack care packages, event volunteer, office support, or wherever needed), and availability notes (optional).
  • Sponsor form: First name, last name, email, phone (optional), company or organization, the kind of support you are interested in (event sponsorship, program sponsorship, in-kind donation, or year-round partnership), and a note about your goals (optional).
  • Adopt-a-package form: First name, last name, email, phone (optional), how many packages you want to adopt, and a dedication or note (optional).
  • Host-a-drive form: First name, last name, email, phone (optional), organization or group, a proposed date (optional), a location (optional), and what you have in mind.
  • Travel assistance request: First name, last name, email, phone, rank (E-1 through E-5), branch, the dates you need to travel, your home destination, and why the trip matters.
  • Veteran support request: Your first name, last name, email, and phone; the veteran’s name; branch of service (optional); the kind of help needed (emergency financial relief, disaster assistance, hardship support, veteran recognition, service dog funding, or other); and a description of the need.
  • Scholarship request: Your first name, last name, email, and phone; the service member’s name; the school or program; and how the scholarship would help.

Where your information goes and who sees it

When you send a form, your answers are saved in our website’s private database, which is hosted with our site at Hostinger. A copy of your submission is emailed to Boots For Troops staff through the email service Resend so we can follow up, and you receive a confirmation email. Travel assistance requests are also emailed directly to Lindsey at our organization.

Our staff can add private notes to a saved request inside a password-protected admin area. Neither your form answers nor our staff notes are ever shown on the public website. We do not sell your information, rent it, or use it to advertise to you.

How long we keep your information

Our website system does not automatically delete form submissions on its own. We keep your requests in our records for as long as needed to respond to you, manage our nonprofit programs, and keep our internal history, unless you ask us to remove your information.

Spam check, cookies, and video

We use website analytics to see which pages people visit and whether they click Donate, continue to the care-package request, or open the Amazon wishlist. Analytics does not receive your name, email, phone number, or anything you type into a form. Our pages do not set any other tracking cookies of our own. Outside services on our site may set their own cookies when you use them:

Spam check: Every public form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam. Cloudflare receives a check from your browser and your IP address to verify you are not a bot. We do not save your IP address with the form. Our forms also include a hidden field that regular visitors never see; if an automated bot fills it in, we throw the submission away.

Video: Our homepage and stories page can play one YouTube video. The video player does not load until you press play. When you press play, it loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube may set its own cookies. We do not receive a list of who watched the video.

Facebook: Our program pages can play a Facebook video. The player does not load until you press play. When you press play, it loads from Facebook, and Facebook's privacy policy applies after that.

Other websites you click through to

Some links on our site take you to other companies to complete a task. These are not forms on our website, and once you leave our site, that company’s own privacy policy applies:

  • Amplify (giving.myamplify.io): Handles our online donations. You enter your card number and gift details directly on Amplify’s site, and our website never sees your card number.
  • Shopify (boots-4-troops.myshopify.com): Handles our care-package requests. Those requests are not stored in our website database.
  • Amazon: Hosts our charity wishlist when you click the Amazon wishlist link.
