Charities Among Us: Boots For Troops

A service member holding a Boots For Troops care package and a new pair of boots

The Plaid Horse published “Charities Among Us: Boots For Troops” in December 2018, placing the young nonprofit in front of the equestrian readers who had already helped Lindsey Rogers raise the first dollars. Jimmy founded the organization while deployed on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in 2015, after watching shipmates go through mail call with nothing in their hands.

Lindsey’s years in the hunter ring, and the Tomball and Magnolia horse-show circuit around Show Sports Farm, gave the shop an early network: people used to showing up, writing a check, and packing a box. Concert in the Country still runs on that farm.

The original Plaid Horse page is no longer on their site. An archived copy is linked below. The story it told is the same one the Founders Wall holds in the Tomball shop: a Navy deployment, a wife packing from home, and a community that decided deployed troops should not be forgotten.

Stand With Those Who Serve

Every package, flight home, scholarship, and act of relief starts with someone who decided to show up.
