Last October, the Landy and Shaler Markets partnered with Boots 4 Troops to raise over $14,000 in just a few hours during QMCC.
Boots for Troops is a nonprofit organization founded by Lindsey and Jimmy Rogers back in 2015 while Jimmy was in Virginia Beach. Lindsey would make personalized care packages for Jimmy while he was deployed. Jimmy noticed that some service members never received any care packages, and that started the idea of Boots for Troops. Jimmy launched a GoFundMe while on deployment, then started sending care packages to friends, and the organization took off from there.
Thus far, Boots for Troops has donated over 4,000 care packages, brought home 150 troops, and honored 175 heroes. Boots for Troops is looking to open a new branch California, in addition to their existing Houston center, because of their immense success and positive testimonials from service members.
When asked why Texas Roadhouse supports Boots for Troops, Market Partner, Todd Shaler, said “Supporting our troops is the biggest joy we get each year. We know they are the reason we have our freedom and we love them all.”
Texas Roadhouse stores in the area donated 1,800 meals including Pulled Pork, Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs, Made-From-Scratch Sides, and Fresh-Baked-Bread. Over 40 Roadies and a dozen volunteers helped pull the event off. “Texas Roadhouse supports our military veterans on Veterans Day every year. Boots for troops is our local markets efforts to extend that cause to troops who are in need of some home essentials while serving away from home. While we serve comfort food at the store, we are helping provide that same comfort in the field,” said Market Partner, Joe Landy.
This upcoming year, the Landy and Shaler Markets have a goal of raising $20,000 for Boots for Troops.
